In the first chapter of his professional career, John worked for Penske Automotive Group (NYSE: PAG) for five years. Starting in PAG's Management Development Program, he spent two years learning every aspect of the automotive retail dealership business model in a hands-on way. The program's goal was to prepare him for a leadership position at a young age, and during this time John was invited to attend the 2015 PAG-NADA Dealer Academy, a 5-week program for high-potential employees.
John was promoted to Pre-Owned Sales Director at Mercedes-Benz of Tysons Corner in November 2016, assuming P&L responsibility for $30MM in annual revenue and directly managing a large cross-functional team. In many ways this experience served as the most formative time in John's career so far: taking on on the management of over two dozen employees, whose average age was twice his own, and driving sustained sales and margin growth with strong Employee Satisfaction scores. Central to the team's success was John's ability to gain their trust and confidence as a manager.
In August 2018, John was promoted to General Sales Manager at Mercedes-Benz of Tysons Corner, where he managed a larger team and held P&L responsibility for over $130MM in annual revenue. He left PAG in July 2019 to pursue an MBA at IE Business School in Madrid, Spain, choosing the school for its emphasis on entrepreneurial career paths.
John obtained a BA in Economics & Philosophy from Georgetown University and an MBA from IE Business School. He is proficient in Spanish and his interests include history, skiing, reading, and road cycling.
